Monel405 is a free machining version of Monel 400. It is a nickel-copper alloy with a controlled amount of sulfur added to provide lilium inclusions that act as a chip breaker during machining. Like Monel 400, Alloy R-405 is resistant to seawater and steam as well as salts and corrosive solutions at high temperatures.

Features

Monel405 is a solid solution alloy that can only be hardened by cold work. The alloy is characterized by good general corrosion resistance, good weldability and moderate to high strength. This alloy has been used in various applications. It has excellent resistance to fast-flowing brackish or seawater. It is particularly resistant to hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids when degassed. The alloy is slightly magnetic at room temperature. This alloy is widely used in the chemical, petroleum and marine industries.
